Ancient Wisdom for
Modern Transformation
We live in a culture that has industrialised attention, optimised the body, and externalised the self. We are tracked, measured, monetised, and constantly improving — and we have never been more dysregulated.
You can feel it. The 2am hour. The success that does not equal peace. The wine, the scrolling, the productivity stack, the next protocol. You have tried everything that worked for everyone else. And the pattern still runs.
What we have stopped doing — what every ancient practice across every culture has known — is going inward. Not to an app. Not to a quote post. Inward. To the breath. To the body. To the half-second window where you actually decide.
The inner world is not where you escape pressure. It is where you learn to function under it.
Ground Up takes practices older than your stress — martial arts, somatic movement, breathwork, identity work in the body — and translates them for a nervous system trying to operate in a context it was never designed for.
We don't teach transformation. We train you to find what was already there.
An Immersive Experience For The Mind, Body an Soul
A holistic success model for the leader in you — at work, at home, and in the moments only you walk into. Two half-day seminars working on mind, body, and identity at the same time, with practical tools drawn from martial arts, somatic movement, breathwork, and identity practice. Ancient modalities, translated for a modern life that is asking too much of all of us.
The result is concrete: better health, quieter sleep, clearer decisions, and confidence that no longer depends on performance. Peace becomes available in the hard moments — not after them. Leadership improves the project, the team, and the home you walk back into. And around it all, a circle of other people training alongside you — a community that lasts long after the seminar ends, and helps you become who you have actually been the whole time.
Two seminars. Built on each other.
Seminar 2 follows Seminar 1. The sequence is intentional — the second session only holds when the first has run through the body.
Seminar 1 - Under Pressure - Friday July 3rd
Modern life trains your nervous system for a kind of pressure it cannot recover from. Constant input. No off-switch. Performance expected, regulation forgotten. The result shows up everywhere — in the meeting that drains more than it should, in the evening that cannot wind down, in the decision made from fatigue.
Seminar 1 reverses that. Through bodywork, breathwork, and mindfulness practice on the mat, we show you what your nervous system actually does when pressure arrives — and we train it to regulate in the moment. The result is what every sustainable performer eventually realises they need: a body that enters flow under pressure rather than fighting it, a baseline state that holds across the working day and the kitchen table, and stress that stops being something to survive and starts being data you can read and act from. Productivity stops costing your evenings.
Seminar 2 -Who Are You Under Pressure? - Friday July 10th
Seminar 1 gave you the tools. You can read your nervous system. You can regulate it in the moment. You understand the pattern that runs you under pressure. Seminar 2 takes the work one layer deeper — into the limiting belief that keeps the pattern running in the first place.
This is identity work — NLP-based, but never cognitive. Always confronted in the body that Seminar 1 prepared. Which belief is making the call? What does it cost? Who do you become when you put it down? Your training partner becomes the mirror your colleague, client, partner, and child have always been. The inner shift starts to show up in outer life — in confidence, in decisions, in relationships, in the way you walk into a room.
For those ready to keep going, the 8-week programme begins where the seminar ends. Eight weeks of structured embodiment work, identity integration, and live group support — designed to take what you felt on the mat and make it the way you actually live. The seminar opens the door. The programme is what walks you through it.
Who this is for?
Leaders who are ready to level up — personally and professionallyÂ
This is not a feel-good afternoon. It is for people whose nervous system runs operations they no longer want it running. Across four kinds of leader:
CEOs & Founders
Building something that demands more of you than your nervous system was trained for. Decisions land in the body before they land on the page.
Leaders & Executives
The people whose default pattern shapes the team without anyone naming it. Your reactivity becomes the room.
Entrepreneurs
Moving fast and noticing reactivity is costing relationships, decisions, or sleep. You don't need another framework. You need to feel it.
Working Professionals
Therapists, coaches, social workers, care professionals — people who want to feel the methodology in their own body before they refer.
The 4 Stages of Transformation.
Four pillars hold the work. Each one is a practice, not a concept.
Body Work
Movement and mat work that makes your automatic response visible in real time. You don't read about your pattern — you feel it. The moment it runs.
Breathwork
Not a breathwork class. One targeted practice for the exact moment the pattern wants to run. A regulation tool your body remembers when logic stops working.
Team work
Your training partner sees what your team, partner, and children see. Pressure as mirror, not performance. The community is the method — training partners, not spectators.
Embodied Work
The work doesn't end with insight. You leave with one concrete commitment, spoken aloud to the group — with the body behind it. Pattern, then choice. Felt, not declared.
This Experience is Designed
To Get You RESULTS
Personal Growth
— A summer that actually restores. You arrive at your holiday already regulated — not crashing into it. Rest becomes restoration, not damage control. The body that comes back in August is one you actually want to live in.
— Quieter sleep, conscious choice. The wine at the end of the week becomes a habit you can choose, not a release you reach for. The 2am spiral has an off-ramp that does not require thinking your way out.
— Less reactivity at home. You notice your jaw before your tone. You disagree with someone you love without leaving your body to do it. Conversations you have been bracing for since childhood stop costing you a week.
— A body that feels like home. You stop using your weekend to recover from your week. Rest stops being something you earn. Health stops being a project.
— Boundaries from clarity, not exhaustion. You stop automatically saying yes. You stop being the strong friend who has run out of words for herself.
— Real connection. Relationships built on equality — not on rescuing or being rescued. You meet people from who you are, not from who you think they need you to be.Â
Professional Growth
— Clearer decisions under pressure. Choices that used to take three days take an hour. You stop confusing your own reactivity for other people's failure. You make calls from vision, not from fatigue.
— Confidence that does not depend on output. Authority without holding your breath. You hold space, the room, or the line — depending on what is required — without depleting yourself doing it.
— Better presence with your team and your clients. You walk into the difficult conversation with a body that is not already arguing. The people you lead or serve start catching their own patterns — without you having to point them out.
— Projects that move. You stop carrying everything alone. You stop confusing presence with overinvestment. Work starts to feel like calling, not survival.
— Integrated leadership. The version of you at home and the version of you in the office begin to look the same — because they are. You become someone the hard moments do not have to be managed around.

Real People, Real Results
Maartje Drabbe
"How you do one thing is how you do everything."
After more than twenty-five years of working with people, teams, leaders and organisations, I have come to a conviction that challenges much of how we approach growth, performance and change.
Most people do not struggle because they lack knowledge.
Most teams do not struggle because they lack strategy.
Most leaders do not struggle because they lack intelligence.
Yet despite having access to more information than any generation before us, stress is rising, burnout is increasing, teams feel disconnected and many people feel further away from themselves than ever.
Why?Â
Because information rarely changes behaviour.
Pressure reveals behaviour.
And what pressure reveals is often what has been shaping us all along.
Throughout my career I have worked with young people in crisis, professionals carrying immense responsibility, leadership teams navigating uncertainty and organisations trying to create meaningful change.
Across all of these environments I kept witnessing the same phenomenon:
People do not rise to their intentions.
They fall back on their patterns.
The way we communicate under pressure.
The way we lead under pressure.
The way we respond to conflict, uncertainty and change.
These patterns are often invisible until pressure makes them visible.
One principle has guided me for many years:
How you do one thing is how you do everything.
The way someone responds in a difficult conversation often mirrors how they respond in conflict at home.
The way a leader reacts when plans change often reflects how they approach uncertainty in other areas of life.
The way a team navigates pressure reveals far more than any mission statement ever will.
Pressure is not the problem.
Pressure is the revealer.
This insight became the foundation of Ground Up.
My work has taken me from therapy rooms to boardrooms, from behavioural science to leadership development, from martial arts to ancient wisdom traditions and indigenous teachings.
Different worlds.
The same lessons.
Self-awareness matters.
Presence matters.
Connection matters.
Responsibility matters.
And the ability to remain grounded under pressure may be one of the most important human skills of our time.
Across psychology, leadership, team development, martial arts and ancient wisdom traditions, I kept encountering the same truth:
Sustainable change happens when awareness becomes embodied.
Not when people simply understand something.
But when they experience themselves differently.
When a pattern becomes visible.
When a new choice becomes possible.
And when that choice is practised until it becomes part of who they are.
Ground Up exists because I believe authentic leadership, resilient teams and meaningful transformation begin there.
Not with more information.
Not with another model.
But with the courage to see ourselves clearly, especially when life becomes challenging.
My role is not to provide answers.
My role is to create the conditions in which people discover their own.
To help individuals, leaders and teams see more clearly, respond more consciously and build the resilience, vitality and awareness needed to thrive in an increasingly complex world.
Because lasting change happens when insight becomes experience.
And experience becomes embodied.
That is the work.
And that is Ground Up.
